Greetings Genesee Swim Lesson Families,

Thank you for registering for developmental swim lessons. The Genesee Swim Team started this program last year, at the request of the Genesee Foundation, to provide swim lessons to residents. It was a success and as of today, we have over 20 children registered for this summer's program. This is double the number from last year!!

As mentioned in the registration process, swim lessons are given by Genesee Swim Team Assistant Coaches. Our Assistant Coaches comprise of high school and college students who swim (or swam) on Genesee Swim Team and are current lifeguards or swim instructors at neighboring pools.

We do not hold organized group lessons, our instructors will work with each family directly to determine the level, frequency, and type of lesson. We strive to make these "toe in the water" half-hour lessons flexible to the needs of each child, no matter their level. For example, lessons may range from water acclimation, swim basics, to specific stroke improvements.

If your child is ready/wanting to move up to swim team, they can! Just work with your instructor on timing, and reach out to us/the coach and we will arrange an introduction and figure out the registration fee amount (based on timing). The whole goal of the lessons is to grow skill, gain confidence, and be ready for swim team!

Timing

With the weather in Genesee a bit variable, we plan to start scheduling swim lessons after Memorial Day. Lessons will occur at either the Foothills or Vista Pool at a time and day that you and the instructor agree upon.

Fee Program

There are two fees associated with the development swim lessons.

• A passthrough cost of $28 payable to Genesee Mountain Thunder. This fee relates to purchasing insurance coverage for your child through the Genesee Swim Team's policy to comply with our contract with Genesee Foundation in using their pools.
• A $30 per child per lesson charge. Once the registration fee is paid, you will pay your swim instructor directly for each lesson your child participates.

Genesee Swim Team Communications

Since you have registered for Swim Lessons within the Genesee Swim Team portal, you will receive all team communications. We hope that as your swimmer progresses through our Developmental Swim Program, they will be ready and want to join the swim team!
