GET IN THE SWIM WITH THE GENESEE SWIM TEAM!!

The Genesee Mountain Thunder swim team consists of children ages 5-18 who practice daily at the Foothills neighborhood pool. We are part of the Foothills Swim Association (FSA) and participate in organized summer swim meets with other FSA teams in Jefferson County from Memorial Day through the end of July. We have been active with FSA swimming for over 30 years. We cater to swimmers of all ability levels and believe strongly that everyone gets the same attention from the coaches. Children are divided into practice groups based on age and ability level so that they can enjoy the summer comfortably with their peers. We typically have several family and team-only events to build community bonds, as well as weekly swim meets.  Our Head Coach and Swimmer Coaches work with each swimmer's abilities and goals – whether it is to make it across the pool or to succeed at League and State.

We want summer swimming to be a fun time for everyone, including parents! GMT is a social experience as well as an opportunity to bond with neighbors while building values of sportsmanship and community. Since we are a non-profit organization we do rely on parents to help the team function. We can’t put on a meet without parent involvement but, our team board works very hard to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

PARENT PARTICIPATION

We are a parent-run organization and ask that every family do their part. There is a great deal that goes on behind the scenes to keep the team running smoothly. As a result, we require your parent participation to make the team better!

Throughout the season, you will be asked to help with various jobs. Most assignments will be posted on the meet page next to the kids' entries. The most obvious thing we need help with is running the meets. Typically for home meets, we need timers, officials, runners, people to help with concessions, and many other positions. Additionally, there are social committees, event positions, fundraising jobs and many other ways you can contribute. If you have a special talent or interest please let us know so we can try to assign you to a job you'll love.

Please be in direct contact with our Parent Participation Coordinator if you would like something outside of meet duties.
