I echo Coach Andi's comments on the great turnout at yesterday's BBQ.  I am looking forward to a great season!

With that being said, I have attached this year's Swimming Rule Book to this communication.  These are the bi-laws and stroke standards related to summer club.  .

The Rules section of the document is what Officials are trained on.  Currently Genesee has five (5) trained officials, but ideally we should have a lot more, so that we can rotate off and not feel that we need to be "on-deck" for an entire meet.  I personally love being an official, as you have a front row seat for the races.  My kids also love the fact that I am not hovering over them in the team tent.  

The first officials training is tailored for NEW officials.  It will be this Thursday (May 25) at 5:30pm at Applewood Knolls Swim and Tennis Club (11520 W 32nd Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033).  A second training is being scheduled for the first week of June at 5Parks in Arvada.  The training class is broken out into two sections:

• 5:30 PM – 6:30: Class portion where you will go over the Official Rules Book 
• 6:30 PM – 7:00: In-pool demonstration where a high school swimmer from AK will get in the water and the League Head Official will point out things to look for when judging a race.

Please let me know who will be participating in this training.  It will take a couple of meets and maybe the season, for individuals to feel fully comfortable as an officials.  That is understandable and please know that who ever signs up will be paired with a Genesee official to shadow.
