New 4th parade tradition and call for baked goods!

    4th of July celebration reminders!

    A new Tradition!

We have a lot of new and old swimmers alike this year on our team. This year, especially with as many littles as we have, we are hoping to bring some more community to our team and to the parade. This year, we are wanting to join the Genesee parade as a team!

The first part of this is the Bike Decorating party - this will happen on Monday, July 3 at the Genesee Playground area at Vista from 1-3. If your kiddo is bringing a bike or scooter in the parade, join other kids in the neighborhood for this fun tradition.

For the parade on the 4th, we will meet at the corner of Current and Snowberry at 9:30 to gather and get our gear and bikes organized. Wear your team shirt, suit, or whatever you feel that both celebrates the 4th AND draws attention to us as our great Genesee Mountain Thunder team!  We have our old-school flag and our bikes (and siblings, and parents) can all do the parade together. Then there are the games, food, fun, and of course OUR BAKE SALE!

    Which reminds us...

    We need you!

Our 4th of July bake sale is LESS than a week away! We don't have many folks signed up and so far are tracking at less than 10 donations. Hoping we have a baker's dozen (at least!) of procrastinators that are still planning to bake and donate, but just haven't signed up yet. Please go on and sign up!

    We are still looking for:

    • Homemade pies - super popular and big-ticket items for us
    • Homemade cakes – BIG or small, we will sell them all!
    • Homemade cupcakes – please plan to package to sell (individual, sets of 4 or 6, dozen)
    • Homemade bars or brownies – see above, same as cupcakes
    • Homemade banana bread (or other tea bread) - sliced or whole
    • Homemade cookies - packaged 2-4/bag (please bake at least 2 dozen)
    • Popcorn packaged in patriotic-themed bags
    • Chocolate-dipped pretzel rods with red-white-blue sprinkles

We also will need people to work shifts in the tent that morning to sell the items. It’s fun and you will be in the shade. Darcey Kramer ([email protected]) will be coordinating the event and will send out further specifics.

THANK YOU in advance for all of your delicious donations, time and volunteerism, and effort in making this year's bake sale our best yet.

    As always, GO GMT!
