3 weeks to Season Start = lots of announcements + gear orders due by Midnight!
Hello Genesee Mountain Thunder Families,
There are just 3 weeks until the start of our Summer Swim Season, so this communication contains a lot of information in anticipation (hang with us for ALL the updates)! We have included all members of last year's team - to encourage those hold outs to sign up again...hint, hint. So far, we are looking at some strong numbers for the summer season!
Genesee Mountain Thunder gear orders due tonight by MIDNIGHT!

The SwimTopia website is our primary communication resource
Throughout the season, you will receive weekly emails from the SwimTopia portal on upcoming events. Note that you will need to log into SwimTopia to RSVP for team events and meets and to sign up for Parent Participation Jobs. Please check the Events and Meets tabs regularly. Right now, you can see full schedule of practices, meets and events on the website to help with summer planning.
After School Practices planned to start Monday, May 20th – Clear Creek Rec Center
We anticipate having secured pool time at the Clear Creek Recreation Center – in Idaho Springs 20 minutes from Genesee - between 5:00pm to 6:30pm Mon-Thursday the week of May 20th. Please come for all or part of the sessions, as this is a great opportunity ease into the water before regular practices begin.
Team Swimsuit Ordering
Swimsuit ordering is still open until May 10th. Please ensure you go to the below link to get your suits ordered as soon as possible. Information on how to buy team gear and swimsuits is located on the Shop – GMT GEAR tab of our website https://genesee.swimtopia.com/shop
Kickoff Barbecue is Sunday, May 19 from 4:30-7pm
We look forward to seeing you at the kickoff barbecue! The team provides hamburgers, hotdogs, a veggie option. We will have sign-ups for sides/salads, drinks and desserts to help round out the event. We will ask for RSVP's in order to be sure we have enough food. We always look forward to this great kick-off event! You can sign up now to bring items or RSVP Now.
The Coaches and Parent Board will host an orientation session in the Vista Clubhouse starting at 5pm. We look forward to seeing all new parents and swimmers at this event. We also encourage returning families to attend if they want more details on the upcoming season. Key topics include:
- Meet the coaches and a preview of the upcoming season
- Use of SwimTopia and how it is used for communications and meet coordination
- What to expect at practices and meets
- Parent participation expectations
- Open forum to ask questions
Food will be served at the conclusion of the orientation session. We hope everyone can attend as we kick off the start of our season.

Spread the word! Don’t forget to register for Genesee Swim Team. Registration is still open for a few weeks for team and developmental lessons with both registrations on our homepage at https://genesee.swimtopia.com/. This is one of the few organized activities available in Genesee that brings our kids together - so encourage your neighbor kids to get engaged in this great team and sport!
Looking for Volunteer Officials - next training session this Sunday!
Another great and fun way to get more engaged is to become a league Official - with this job, you help ensure fair racing and teach our kids about the rules of competitive swimming, all while having a front-row seat! We need to provide officials for all meets - home and away, and we are losing some of our officials. The next new training session is on May 5th from 3-4:30 PM – Lakewood Library Meeting Room 10200 W 20th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80215. Please let us know if you plan to attend!
