Greetings,

As we get ready for our third swim meet, I wanted to send a reminder that I will be offering officials training tonight during practice.  This is a volunteer role, however it is only avilable to parents that complete training. 

If you are interested in learning more this role, please please reply to this email or come to Foothills tonight during the 6pm evening practice.  I will answer questions on the role and review sections of the attached Rules and Meet Guidelines.  For those that are interested, I will pair you with a "seasoned" official at Saturday's meet so you have an opportunity to shadow the role and get a better understanding of the requirements.  

Officials often shadow the role for an entire season before they feel comfortable.  So, even if you think you are not ready this year, I encourage you to participate in the training and shadowing an official for a few meets this year.

See you tonight the upper deck of Foothills at 6:15pm (Thursday, June 11th).

• Returning Officials - This will be a great refresher session.
• New Officials - We will review the sections of the attached Rules and Meet Guidelines that are important to 1st year officials. This will primarily be the following Rules:
  • Rules 4 - Officials and Their Duties - Section 1 - Philosophy of Officiating
  • Rule 8 - Swimming Events - Section 1 Starts
  • Rule 8 - Swimming Events - Section 2 Form of Individual Events
  • Rule 8 - Swimming Events - Section 3 Relay Events

Since the kids will be practice, we will have a great opportunity to observe their form and discuss aspects called out in the rules book.
